Index Card "art" from Love You Lots Hostess Set

"Index Card" art from Love You Lots HS

I know, I know...this is probably one of the funkiest looking hand stamped cards you have ever seen, am I right? BUT this is what is called an "index card" and it's one of the cool things that various members of the www.splitcoaststampers.com demonstrator community do for each other and for all of you stampers out there who enjoy getting ideas from the SCS gallery.

When the new catty comes out, we are all flooded with new stamp sets and can't wait to enjoy them all....BUT there is no way you can get them all (well, not realistically) so it's nice to see all of the images in the stamp set all at once.  Due to copyright restrictions, it's not permitted to copy the actual stamp images to post on the splitcoast website.  So many different stampers volunteer to use stamp sets they have to put together an "index card" by stamping all images from one set onto a "card" (more or less a card, anyway) so you can go back and see what images are in a particular set just by clicking on the splitcoast gallery photo.  This is handy if you don't want to dredge thru every catalogue you own trying to figure out what stamp set a particular image goes with OR what image might be missing from a particular stamp set so you know what to search for, right?

So...this is my first ever attempt to make an index card...I am ashamed to say that in the 13 years I have been an SU demo this is the first one I've ever done but it was kind of fun and I am happy to be able to help out a bit!  I volunteered to do this one and several others but since this is a "first time moment" for me, I thought I would share it with you guys here on my blog as well as with the folks on splitcoast.  Do leave me a little "shout out" comment if you ever see it on splitcoast, ok?  You can go to the general gallery and search by stamp set name OR by name of the "artist".  I am known an "inkerzaway" on splitcoast if you would like to search for my paltry gallery of shared cards.

Obviously, this set is called Love You Lots and it's a hostess only set so can only be ordered with hostess dollars earned by having a Stampin' Up! party (be it a traditional in home party, a wild and crazy personal order OR asking me to set up a "hostess code" for you to send to your friends so you can have an online book party AND earn free stamps with your order!  So if that's something you'd like to do, please let me know and I will be happy to set that up for you.  ''

I hope you have enjoyed this little "inside peek" to how the splitcoast community works together to make life easier for stampers and I am eager to begin stamping all manner of cute little cards with these adorable critters!  If you aren't already a member of the SCS community, I invite you to waste no time in checking it out at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com and see the amazing photo gallery as well as multiple fun "chat areas" to discuss anything from soup to nuts with a whole lotta stamping in between. And oh by the way, it's FREE!

Moroccan Nights OSW in Bermuda Bay

Ok, I admit that when I first saw this stamp set I was completely "underwhelmed" and wasn't sure what I would do with it.   This was at OnStageLive in Salt Lake City last April when the set was featured in a live presentation by Shelli G(Stampin' Up! co-founder) and her daughter, Sarah D. who was recently named as CEO of Stampin' Up!  Talk about pulling out the big guns to feature a stamp set, right?  Even after seeing beautiful samples created by Sarah and Shelli in their "dueling stampers" skit I wasn't sure about it BUT this set was an "All Attendee Giveaway" so I was able to bring it home with me and I was quickly won over when I saw a sweet and simple card shared by Dawn of DOStamping  (Click on the highlight over Dawn's name to see her sample)....after that, I got the set inky and created about a stack of cards just like the photo above  in less than 30 minutes via assembly line style stamping.  AND they are done in beautiful Bermuda Bay with a thin accent layer of black to make it "pop".  What's not to like about that, right?
This "style" is a super easy version of the One Sheet Wonder Technique (OSW) which basically means you stamp images all over a full sheet of neutral cardstock then cut that sheet into card sized pieces creating "card fronts" to layer on coordinating cardstock. So basically, stamp one sheet and make 4 or more cards from each stamped piece. It's a quick and cute way to stamp a stack of cards pretty fast! I first learned this technique from Karen Gregorian way back in the late 1990's when I was a new demonstrator and it was good to be reminded that stamping doesn't have to complicated to be fun.
So, thank you Dawn O. for the inspiration....I will be using this stamp set as one of the cards at an upcoming Quick and Cute Class so if you are in The Villages, FL area and want to come and see how easy this is to make, contact me asap so I can sign you up for class or schedule a time for you and your friends to get together and make this fun little card.

Here's the scoop on what you need to create this card!   If you see something you love, you can just click on the link and you'll be taken to my webstore where you can make a purchase.  How handy is that?  But, before you start trying to order Sassy Salutations, I will confess that I grabbed that set and used it before the catalogue changed over on June 1st so it's no longer available to order however there are many sets of wonderful sentiments available in the new catty...some are tried and true, some are brand new but definitely lots of options!

News Flash bday (Pun Intended)

Flirty Flamingo Card

This was a little "sneak peek" treat for my long distance stamp club members for our Club Project in May.....I was able to preorder this set because I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so I made a couple of cards and fell in love with it right away so I knew that was the set to use for the sneak peek for my awesome club ladies!

Not only does it use a NEW stamp set (Flirty Flamingo) but it also used the NEW 2016-17 In Colors and some of the beautiful new ruched ribbon in Flirty Flamingo color....very cute card and easy, too!  My favorite combination!

This was a pretty easy card so you probably don't need much info to figure it out but I used the Confetti embossing folder ...stamped the thank you banner in Emerald Envy (one of the new colors) BEFORE embossing the white cardstock (otherwise you don't get a good image for the banner) so I just eyeballed it to make sure it would be near the bottom of the card and stamped it.  Then I ran it thru the Confetti embossing folder and finally stamped the pink birdie on the smooth inisde portion of the oval left by the confetti folder.  Stamped it in Flirty Flamingo, and adhered the white cardstock to a slightly larger black cardstock (nothing makes pink "pop" like layering it on black!) then attached the whole thing to folded Flirty Flamingo (pink) cardstock.   Of course I had to tie some of the beautiful new ruched ribbon in Flirty Flamingo  around the spine of the card and then voila, the card was complete!

Here's the inside of the card....I stamped the leaf in the top left corner with Emerald Envy then used the In Color markers (Emerald Envy and Peek-a-Boo Peach) to color the pineapple.  Since this was stamped as a thank you card, I left plenty of space on the inside to write a little greeting.

Hope you have enjoyed this little card sample....it's no longer a "sneak peek" since the catalogue has gone live so maybe you have this set already?  If so I know you'll enjoy the stamp set...it's so cute!

Here is the supply list of the items I used for this card, I realized after saving the file that I neglected to include the Confettie Embossing Folder which  is still available from Stampin' Up! and the item number for that folder is 140592 if you are interested in ordering it.
