testing, still testing....

Isn't this just the cutest little album ever? I am still testing my new watermark program and finally the teeny tiny print in the bottom right corner is large enough to read without a magnifying glass. ..so it appears that I am on the right track and will get there eventually.

So while I am posting, I might as well tell you about this little album. I used acrylic sheets...thicker than a transparency sheet, but still pretty thin and easily diecut in my Big Shot machine. So I just had to run it through with the Top Note die for the album. Then I realized that I wanted to bind it with the Bind It All so I had to trim the edge off the diecut piece...if I had realized it before I did the cutting I could have positioned one of the straight edges so it was below the "cut line" of the die and saved myself the trouble but I'm not always that clever. The acrylic sheets were ordered from http://www.clearscraps.com/ in case you feel the need to acquire some of your own.

For the rest of the album, I stamped the front with StazOn Cotton White with the little swirly images from Priceless. I used Holiday Treasures DSP on the inside and stamped "enjoy" from Holiday Collections on the green mat on the inside. A little ribbon on the bindings and voila! I never would have thought of this on my own so I must give the credit to Lisa Somerville, a very talented Stampin' UP! demo friend of mine....she is a great inspiration to me via her blog and the picture to the left is a sample she shared on her blog http://www.lisasomerville.com/ prior to Christmas '08 which inspired me to do the project in the first place. She used chipboard and I went with acrylic but it's easy to see that she gave me this great idea AND inspired me to buy lots of the Holiday Treasures DSP! I had a chance to meet her briefly this month at a Stampin' UP! conference in Orlando...maybe next time I'll be able to sit down and really talk to her!

Anyway, just wanted to share this photo...I did a mini album swap at my conference and used a similar album for my swap entry using Love You Much (the Valentine "bundle" which is currently a special) and I was pleased with how it came out . I will have to dig out my camera and take some photos of it...but that will have to happen another day.

Great album, I love Lisa's work too, she's so crafty! An easy watermark program some of my friends use id from picasa and I think it's free and easy. Worth a look. I do mine right in my photo software (PaintShopPro) and reudce the opacity to 70% and save it as a png file so I can cut and paste it on a project as needed. Hope it helps!
