A Cardinal Christmas

This is another card from my Headstart on the Holidays "Stamp a Stack" (SAS for short) yesterday. Seeing as I live in "St. Louis Cardinal's Country", how could I not get this set??? I have seen so many beautiful samples with this set already that I know I'll be using it a lot....especially for tile coasters!
Anyway, this is a "quick and easy" card as were almost all of the cards at this SAS. Just stamp the Cardinal on a white cardstock panel. I used Jet Black StazOn ink so it didn't run when I colored him in. This particular bird is colored with a combination of markers and watercolor crayons....Real Red WCC, Old Olive and Close to Cocoa markers and a little dash of white gel pen on the holly berries. At the class yesterday, we did notice that this fine feathered fellow is MUCH brighter when colored with markers instead of watercolor crayons but he looks pretty good either way.
Then pop the little birdie on a slightly larger layer of either Black or Basic Grey cardstock then layer onto a panel of red and grey dotted decorative paper from the Holiday Treasures Designer Series paper collection. The colors in this pack of DSP are so rich and beautiful that it's hard to cut into it to use but I managed to do it somehow. I'm a paper hoarder so you can be very proud of me for actually using the designer paper this time.
Next stamp the Merry Christmas sentiment, done in such a lovely and elegant font, onto the corner of the DSP using either black or grey ink. The grey is a little softer but the black looks nice, too. Layer the whole thing on a folded sheet of white cardstock and voila! you have a beautiful Christmas card! I know you can't see the sentiment inside but it says. "May all the blessings of the season fill your heart and home with joy".
Now, to think of who I can send this to....I am sure that all of my Cubs fan friends would appreciate this beautiful Cardinal, don't you think??? I might have to make a whole stack! ;-) Jan
