Have you had a chance to play with the great new Build a Blossom (BAB for short!) punch from Stampin' Up!? I got it when the Occasions mini was first released but really hadn't played with it until I did a couple of workshops last month. Once I started all I could say was, "what was I waiting for???" Talk about a quick and cute card...all I did for this flower was to punch out a few petals and stick them down on the card! Of course, being addicted to the Big Shot and all, I had to run it thru the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder to give it some texture before I attached the petals.
The base of the card is crumb cake cardstock run through the Framed Tulips embossing folder, I sponged some Early Espresso ink over the embossed portion of the frame to accent the embossing. I punched out a circle (any size will do but I think I used 1 3/8th inch circle punch) because it's easier to attach the petals to a circle than to try to line them up in a circle...what a sweet trick! Before I arranged the flower petals I sponged Delightful Daffodil ink around the edges of each petal and gently sponged a little over the top of the petal to catch the polka dots. The petals were also punched out in Garden Green cardstock then tucked underneath the white petals. So cute...so easy! There are multiple petal shapes in the Build a Blossom stamp set which can be used for flower but the only one I used for this card was the center "stamen" image and then I decided to use one of the antique brads in the center as well so you can barely see the yellow center of the flower but it's in there somewhere. The sentiment "thinking of you" is from the now retired Sale-a-Bration stamp set called "So Happy For You". That set is no longer available but almost any sentiment would fit easily in that space.
Hope that you have enjoyed seeing the card...and now I have a terrible confession to make. Yes, I was a very bad girl! Today is a special day...my husband and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, but that's not the confession. The "news" is that this year for our annivaersary I bought him an anniversary card (gasp!)...yes, from a store! I only got it because it had the cutest photo of a little boy and girl and a wonderful sentiment that described us perfectly. I love my SU stamps but yes, it's true...I gave him a storebought anniversary card....trust me, he was in shock, too! ;-) He was thrilled and said that was great news because he was sure it meant I have given up stamping and now he could re-appropriate the wonderful table in the basement (currently known as the "darn fine stamping table") back into the pool table it had been in it's previous life. Isn't he a funny man? Yes, that's what I thought too...ha, ha! He's kept me laughing for over 30 years now, if that isn't the secret to a long and happy marriage then I don't know what is....what a guy! Happy anniversary honey!
