Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Now that I have that little tune snippet running through your brain, here is a VERY easy card that I did for a Christmas card swap at the SU Convention 2008 and then recycled for my Headstart on the Holidays class last week. Why reinvent the wheel, right?

This card used a regular popular and versatile set called Big on Christmas, the Bold Snowflake jumbo wheel and a little glitter to make a cute and quick Christmas card.

First stamp the "let it snow" image from Big on Christmas onto a panel of white cardstock, color it in with markers for the snowman and I also used a Bashful Blue marker to color in the open letters and sponged a bit of Brilliant Blue around the edges. Then I went for the glitter...how could I resist? Using the chisel tip of a 2 way glue pen, I applied the glue then sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds glitter. A little hint on "glitter control"...I used the Embossing Buddy on my cardstock before applying the glue and glitter which helped me get the glitter to stay mainly on the glue pen and not so much on the rest of the panel. But with glitter, I have found it sticks around to make things sparkly for a while so it's best to just resign yourself to that fact and consider it "make up for stampers". Once the glitter is in place, you CAN heat set it briefly with a heat embossing tool to sort briefly melt it and keep it where you want it. I rarely bother doing this as I prefer to go with the stamper's make up theory.

After glittering, attach the white panel to a slightly larger Brilliant Blue panel then the rest of the card goes VERY quickly! I made about 25 of these cards in about 2 hours to get ready for convention....assembly line work is the key!

Wheel the Bold Snowflake pattern onto the Bashful Blue cardstock layer. Adhere the glittery SNOW panel on top of that and attach the whole thing to a folded white cardstock base. I love using a folded white base for many of my cards as it helps "pop" or accentuate the colors on the card, gives you a white inside making it easier to write a little message AND white cardstock is always less expensive than colored cardstock so that keeps the overall cost of the card down. A definite "win win" situation, yes?

Once your card is all assembled, stamp the Warm Wishes sentiment (from the Hugs and Wishes stamp set, pg 141 of the current Fall/Winter 2008 Idea Book) on the bottom right corner with Brilliant Blue ink and you are all done!

Love this card, Jan! I'm a sucker for snowmen and blue/white cards. Add glitter and I just sings to me! :)

I'm glad you happened upon my Blog. I'm about the same distance west of St Louis that you are east. I live out in the country (Lincoln County). Glad to make your acquaintance!
