the not so itsy bitsy spider????

Ok, so I admit it...I'm not really such a big fan of spiders but I think this little guy is kinda cute. He started out as a peppermint patty cover Initially gleaned from the multiple creative genius of SCS, I have no idea where I first saw this idea, but I've seen many versions so I am not sure where to place the credit. If this little guy is your "spider baby" then please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.

Anyway, I liked him on the Peppermint Patty but after the chocolate mysteriously disappeared (don't you love how mysterious things tend to happen around Halloween? very convenient!) I decided to put him on a card. He started off on a plain piece of white cardstock but that was a little boring so I figured he needed a web and this is where he ended up.

This card was one of the projects we made for my stamp club this past week and he was pretty well received...for a spider! Once club was over I had some leftover parts so I actually sat down and made the leftovers into cards! I am so proud of myself...usually I stash them in a ziploc thinking that I will get around to it eventually. Likely story! So now I have about half a dozen Halloween cards which is the perfect number...one for each of my three kids (better put some money in those cards so they'll want to open them!) and one for my folks, one each for my husband's folks. I don't usually send Halloween cards so they'll be surprised....I just hope the spider behaves enroute!

Oh! I almost forgot the stamp credits! You can barely read it because of the glare but on the white oval is a "Happy Halloween" sentiment, this image is from All Holidays, I punched out the word with the large oval punch then punched out two more large ovals and layered them behind the white oval to "frame" it. Hard to tell with the black on black but trust me IRL you can see it. The perfect web was done with the Sanded background stamp and white craft ink on black cardstock and the little spidey legs were done with the photo corner punch. His eyes and nose were circle punches of various sizes...I found the tweezers in the Crafter's Tool kit to be quite handy when trying to pick up and position the tiny face. I just put a dab of 2 way glue where I wanted the eye then manuevered it into place with the tweezers.

Anyway, I hope you like my spider and I apologize for the poor photo quality, it was a gloomy day and the light was just terrible but I have been negligent in posting anything to my blog for so long that I figured I should share something or you would worry about me. If I can get a better photo later, I will update the photo. Jan

Cute card. Love the web. A friend of mine used the stem sayings to make a web for her spider on a card.

So cute! I love the idea. Also, congrats on making up the extras. I know that habit (of leaving them aside) well! My peppermints must be near yours!

I like the background. I need to finish my spideys for the kid's Halloween goodies. Aren't these so easy to make and at the same time pack such a punch? Nice idea to put a spider on a card- TFS!
