Gotta love these beautiful blooms in the dead of winter!

With snow still on the ground here in SW IL, I am enjoying working with some lovely spring blooms...yes, I suppose I am in denial however we are expecting things to warm up quite a bit over the next few days so maybe that silly groundhog was wrong about his weather predictions?

At any rate, here is a card that I used for my monthly stamp club groups and if it makes me happy to stamp flowers and think about spring, then what's the harm, right? My sample was heavily inspired by a lovely card created by imamuttnut, a fellow SCS member, click here to view her card : www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1205527?cat=15703

Obviously I changed it up a bit, added the "eyelet border punch" in a few places in place of ribbon, did some tone on tone background stamping and layered the sentiment a bit differently but overall, she inspired this card. Thankfully there are so many creative stampers out there who are willing to share that I never want for card ideas, in fact that's what I love the most about stamping... I can look creative despite that fact that I don't have a creative bone in my body!

So for this card, I used Botanical Blooms (one of the Free with purchase stamp sets available in Feb. and March during SU's Sale-A-Bration promotion) for all of the stamps. I used Pink Pirouette ink and cardstock, Riding Hood Red ink and cardstock, the eyelet border punch, the large and small layering oval punches then layered it all on a Whisper White card base. I love to do this for several reasons...1. it stretches my supply of colored cardstock so I save $$$ for more stamps and 2. If I use a white cardstock, then it's easy to write a message inside. I also love the way the white base makes the colors "pop" a bit.

Anyway, hope that you will enjoy seeing my version of this great card! Tomorrow I will post a photo of our 3rd and final stamp club project for the month...a Valentine treat holder. I usually just do 2 projects each month but couldn't stop myself from adding this one due to Valentine's Day coming up so soon. Jan

Great layout and design. I, too, am looking for fun, spring-like hope. I usually love winter, but not this winter!
