Birthday Bakery library card class

I am finally getting around to sharing the cards we created at the april library card class, sometimes it takes me a while but I consider the fact that I am blogging at all to be a bit of a miracle!

Anyway, here is one of the cards we made.  This was supposed to be quick and easy but somehow it took a little longer than anticipated...silly me for making them stamp the bakery image twice along that skinny white panel!  That's why it looks longer than the actual stamp.  We finally made it thru but it was one of those days you are happy that SU makes sure you have two sides to every piece of cardstock!  We just colored in bits and pieces of the cake with a marker for the icing and cherries...doesn't it look yummy?

The stamped panel is layered on a strip of black cardstock which was punched on both sides with the scallop trim punch, then layered on another piece of Melon Mambo leaving.just a little touch of pink peeking out underneath.  The sentiment says, "this is no day for just a sliver" and it's stamped directly onto a small scrap of Melon Mambo designer series paper then punched out with an oval punch and layered onto the cardstock base.

The white base of the cardstock was run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder to give some nice texture and interest to the card without adding another layer or embellishment.  And who doesn't love polka dots, right?  I used some retired Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon tied around the side for a little accent, it's no longer available but it sure is pretty and it went very well with the pink icing and polka dot embossing, besides it was getting lonely in that basket of retired ribbon under my table.

Birthday Bakery is a Level 1 hostess set in the 2010-11 Idea Book and Catalogue...it will be available until early July when the next catalogue comes out then all of the current hostess sets will be retired, so if you want it, now is the time to get it.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the library card project....I will have another to show you in a few more days then it will soon be time for the next class on May 19th so please come join us if you are interested, just be sure to let me know at least 24 hours in advance so I can get the supplies ready!
