Yippee! Our demolished kitchen is beginning to "take shape" again. Friday (April 11th) they finished installing the DuraCeramic tiles and they look great! Then they began hanging the new cabinets. Here is a picture of what the kitchen looked like at the end of the week-end. The lead carpenter was so nice, he even hooked up the washer and dryer for me so we could get some long overdue laundry done over the week-end....hey, only 5 or 6 loads but who's counting?
Today is Monday and they have not only installed more of the beautiful cabinets but the work has begun on the monstrous island we will have in the middle of the kitchen floor. I hope that it won't seem as overwhelming once we get a counter top on it but right now it seems very imposing indeed. On the bright side, you won't be able to stand in the family room and see any dirty dishes in the kitchen sink as it will be "camoflauged" by the island. We will plan to put a couple of bar stools at the island but I'm betting they will be used infrequently at best as most of our meals are enjoyed on the couch in front of the TV set. Isn't technology wonderful??? ;-)
