So, how about a little peek for those of you who aren't in my stamp club or are in my club but didn't make it this month? Well, ok...if you must! We did three projects this month...with Valentine's Day coming I had to squeeze in an extra little candy wrapper, what can I say?Anyway, here is project #1...it uses an interesting technique with the Big Shot and the Square Lattice embossing folder. I love it....and must confess that lately I seem to have trouble making a card without using my Big Shot in one way or another, I guess it's a sickness? ;-)
For this card we used a lot of white cardstock but I think it has a nice bright effect. First we used scrap cardstock (Whisper White) and stamped the three heart image from the I Heart Hearts stamp set several times, then used the 3 heart punch to punch them all out....easy enough so far, right? Using a piece of white cardstock as a base, we used a gluestick to adhere the hearts randomly onto the front panel. I'll share the measurements at the end of this post, I promise! Don't be afraid to let some of the hearts hang over the edge, you can trim them off before you run it thru the embossing folder and it will add to the natural look of the finished project. If it seems a little empty, you can use the tiny little heart stamp to fill in any holes...you won't be able to tell on the finished card. Once you have finished attaching the hearts and have them where you want them, pop that layer into the embossing folder and run it through...you will be amazed at how different it looks after it's been texturized...as though the punched out pieces are part of the original paper! After the embossing, we finished off the card by adhering it onto a panel of black cardstock then tying a bit of Poppy Parade ribbon around the whole layer before attaching it to the front of a folded white card. But wait, are you noticing something a little different about this particular white card? Yes, I thought so...it has been run through another embossing folder...this one is new in the Occasions mini catalogue and it's a beauty! The tulip embossing folder is my new favorite folder....right up there with the Perfect Polka Dots and the Square Lattice folders, of course! I love the way the stamped panel fits perfectly into the tulip frame, don't you? For a little extra detail, I added a Valentine sentiment from a new stamp set, Valentine Definied from the Occasions Mini ..it says "love" stamped in black on Poppy Parade, punched out with the large oval punch and popped up on some Stampin' Dimensionals (sometimes known as "pop dots"!) but you could use any Valentine sentiment you prefer.
